Fake Document Circulating

May 20, 2026

Please be advised that a form titled “Batchewana First Nation Acknowledgements, Declarations and Release Form,” dated May 20, 2026, is currently circulating on the Batchewana Discussion Board Facebook page indicating that the Per Capita Distribution amount will be $2,000.

Batchewana First Nation would like to inform membership that this form did not originate from the First Nation, is not endorsed by Batchewana First Nation, and is fraudulent. The Batchewana Discussion Board is not a sanctioned page by the First Nation.

The unauthorized use of the Batchewana First Nation logo, along with requests for declarations and member signatures under the false representation of being issued by BFN, is both alarming and unacceptable.
Batchewana First Nation takes this matter very seriously. Misrepresenting the Nation and misleading our membership in this manner will not be tolerated.

We strongly encourage members to exercise caution and verify information through official Batchewana First Nation communication channels before providing personal information or signatures.

It is our hope that social media platforms and discussion groups will take greater responsibility in monitoring and removing false or misleading information, particularly content that is manufactured and misrepresents the Nation and the best interests of our people.

Miigwetch,

Chief Mark McCoy
and Batchewana First Nation Council
